Vozrozhdenie Chorus Celebrated 40th Anniversary

The Vozrozhdenie Chorus celebrated its 40th anniversary with a gala performance at Yakutsk Musical College on 24 April 2015. The program featured fourteen works spanning several genres. The chorus was established in April 1975 by Permafrost Institute members. Today it comprises 43 amateur singers from MPI, other institutes and local community. The chorus performs a wide variety of music from classical music to Russian and Yakut folk songs. It has sung for many musical events together with other choruses and orchestras. Performance highlights include Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana in 2004, Georgy Sviridov’s Songs of Kursk in 2005 and 2015, Sergei Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky in 2006, Karl Jenkins’ Requiem in 2010, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Ode to Joy in 2011, and V. Volodin’s Russian Songs suite in 2012.
