Igarka-Toulouse Experience Presented at a Meeting of European and Siberian Universities

Fifty years ago, in June 1966, French president Charles de Gaulle visited Novosibirsk Academgorodok. This historic visit resulted in several agreements that facilitated cooperation in research and development between the Fifth Republic and USSR in the decades ahead. Recent years have seen an increasing interest in academic collaboration between French and Siberian universities. Problems and possible solutions in cooperation with European universities in Siberia have been discussed at a commemorative conference held from 19-22 April 2016 in Novosibirsk and Tomsk with attendance by universities, research institutes and diplomatic missions. Dr. Nikita Tananaev who leads an MPI’s research team in Igarka, northern Yenisey area, shared his experience in cooperating with researchers from Toulouse and presented the Igarka Geocryology Lab as a possible field platform for interactions and collaboration between Siberian and French students and professors. The full presentation can be found here. Please also visit the Campus-France website for other presentations.
